UNITY.
VISION.
PURPOSE.
A different way will yield different results.
We have worked to unify members, one call, one email, and one conversation at a time. From meetings and rallies, education and mentorship, initiatives and action—together, we have gone from chaos to clarity, and what has emerged is a shared vision for our union.
Our purpose is to work relentlessly to bring that vision to life. The intricacies of our craft are as diverse as the stories we tell. We are storytellers. Creative work is labour. We must respect and protect it. A united membership wins strong contracts.
RCAP ran a slate in the 2023 ACTRA Toronto elections led by eight of our steering committee members and won! We asked you to elect the slate - and you voted for ALL EIGHT.
This work and your support have humbled us, and serving you will be an honour.
Change is Coming.
What is a Slate? A Union slate refers to a group or list of candidates running for leadership during an election. These candidates often share a common platform, goals, and vision for the union, and they may run as a unified team to collectively pursue their objectives. Scroll down to read our platform.
Why run a Slate? To present a cohesive leadership team to the membership, combined expertise (agreement knowledge—IPA, NCA, Audio Code, etc.), present ideas and actions (i.e. AFBS concerns, Audition Reform, etc.), continuity and shared ideals to help shape and guide ACTRA's activities and represent its members' interests.
How do I Vote for your Slate? Great question! Online voting for eligible members opens at 9:00 a.m. ET on Wednesday, November 1, and closes at 11:59 p.m. ET on Friday, November 10. When voting through the online portal, you will select each candidate from this team. Learn our names and read our slate-ments below (or on the ACTRA site). Check your emails! You have received reminders and steps from ACTRA (simply voting).
Comrades don’t let comrades run alone.
Meet your team for the table.

I was raised in an ACTRA home and have been a proud member for 16 years. I consider myself lucky to be part of a union that allows me to live the life of an artist and support my family. But our way of life is under attack. And I believe the way forward lies in our greatest power: the members. I intend to advocate for you—the membership, for its engagement, for its organization, and for greater transparency within our union. There is strength in Unity. Let's come together and vote for change.

I've been an ACTRA member since '99. I always thought, "I'll act and the union will do union stuff." I paid my bills, raised a family. I had concerns but as long as my career was alright…The lockout changed all that. In the last 2 years, I got involved co-chairing the AI committee, going to council meetings, focus groups, rallies & the OLRB. The time is now to fight for more transparency, member engagement & greater accountability from our union. Let's come together and vote for change.

ACTRA member since 2003, my vision is unwavering: prioritize transparency, elevate member engagement, and end the NCA dispute. I want to champion AI protections, bargaining reform and to foster unshakable solidarity with sibling Unions. ACTRA members deserve a union that thrives on democratic principles, where every voice resonates, & decisions are made openly. I seek your trust & collaboration to build a brighter future. There is strength in Unity. Let's come together & vote for change.

Post-pandemic issues. The NCA lockout. Threats of AI & wage cuts. These are the challenges we face. This is a crucial time for your voice to be heard, and that is why I am running for council. Knowledge empowers union members; guesswork weakens us. I intend to be part of a new council that will restore its power through consistent & open communication, plain speech, & tangible opportunities for members to lead. There is strength in Unity. Let's come together & vote for change.

The intricacies of our craft are as diverse as the stories we tell. Defending our artistry once felt easier, now it's taken the spotlight as we relentlessly protect our livelihoods, honour past gains and prepare to fight for more. I'm a sharp communicator, collaborator, and connector with a proud ACTRA history since 2002—multiple council terms (Saskatachewan), producing, lobbying, accolades, and caucus leadership. I have a ferocious sense of this industry and I labour across every agreement in our Union. My desire to serve this membership feels electric. I want to work for creative workers. Let's come together and vote for change.

Member since 2001 (TV/Voice/Ads), my unwavering commitment to our careers & livelihoods fuels my passion. Like thousands of you, I’ve stood by our Union during this extended lockout, restricting us from work by our most affluent engagers. Members, U okay? An observer at Council meetings, ongoing OLRB hearings, I've seen transformative power in informed & engaged Members in advancing our collective fight to be thriving contributors in the ecosystem of our creative industry. The Union IS the Members. There’s strength in Unity. Let’s come together and vote for change.

Our union is on the verge of great transformation. Threats to our ability to earn fair living wages. The advent of AI. Employers bargain in bad faith. But ACTRA hasn’t lasted 80 years without an ability to adapt to change while remaining a vibrant and viable creative force. I will act to increase your earnings, to create open dialogue ensuring members are heard, engaged & united, to building a more democratic and potent Actra. We ARE the union. Come Together & Vote for Change

I joined ACTRA in 2011, working extensively as a voice actor until the lockout destroyed my career; inspiring a passion for labour and service to my Union. Since then I have connected with hundreds of actors. I revere their clarity, depth of feeling and desire for change. When we hear, ‘This is how it's always been done’, my labour mentors taught me to ask, ‘How does that benefit members?’ The answers, a guide. Creative work is labour, we have to defend our value and process. To do so, we, the rank-and-file, must organize. Let's come together and vote for change.
The RCAP Platform — Come Together
Empowering members to make informed decisions and actively contribute to the union's goals and activities.
Your issues are our issues. Why? Because we fundamentally and practically understand an actor/performer's working life. This is an unprecedented time in our Union. This is a time to re-imagine and re-energize. Let’s join hands with returning council members, connect with our history, and inspire current members to demand more while becoming part of the solution.
This is the vision for our Union as sourced by members. We’ve been listening.
1) COMMUNICATION
Making it make sense.
Our (RCAP) communication strategy is built on clear, consistent, straightforward language to ensure members we connect with fully understand what's being said. We take pride in this approach.
This helps members comprehend the information and creates a strong sense of unity, trust, and belonging. They not only get the info they need but also feel heard and represented in it.
To promote transparency, we must significantly transform how we (the Union) communicate with our members. This includes improving how members receive the information.
The lockout has exposed the confusion and apathy around how we interact and respond to Union emails. We know online fatigue is real. But, let’s build a strategy toward conversation, not just announcements. Let’s inform and empower.
2) TRANSPARENCY
Transparency is vital for a healthy union.
Embracing radical transparency empowers the rank-and-file, laying the unshakeable foundation for real change. It means providing members with honest, on-time information about union activities, finances, negotiations (before and after bargaining), and crucial decisions. No more executive sidebars. No more rubber stamping. No more secrecy.
We're committed to ensuring every member, no matter their work category, has equal access to information and opportunities to participate. This is our pledge.
3) ORGANIZING
Let’s get Organize our Rank-and-File.
Organizing lays the groundwork for success within a Union, and through it, we foster critical trust and comradery among the membership, building strong connections with our staff and drawing our steadfast supporters closer. Unity is achieved through organized efforts. As Jason Mogus wisely said, “Organizing is building power. Mobilizing is spending power”.
Organize our rank-and-file. That’s you!
Work for all categories of the union.
Create a sustainable and member-driven path to bring more working actors/performers into our Union; a jurisdictionally supportive policy.
Robust preparedness around bargaining. Our Union does surveys and focus groups. Does it go far enough?
We want to engage in the power of participation. Surveys with completion targets, expanded focus groups, in-person meetings, categorical captains, contract review and comprehensive structure tests of our membership so we can win at the bargaining table.
