ABOUT
The Rank and File Caucus of ACTRA Performers
We are a dedicated group of union performers committed to organizing and empowering ACTRA members from the ground up.
RCAP’s work is rooted in people power. We want to unite as creative labourers, transforming into a responsive, collective voice that amplifies the vision and interests of the Rank and File.
Solidarity in Action. We hold meetings to create conversation, gain feedback, ignite ideas, and foster community. All welcome!
*We exercise our right to assemble freely and organize. This caucus is a member-led initiative and not ACTRA-appointed.

RCAP // ROOTS
Formed in January 2023, RCAP is led by a steering committee of twelve working actors with over 225 years of collective Union experience. Emerging from the National Commercial Agreement Strategy Sub-Committee (June 2022 – February 2023) to address the lockout crisis, RCAP has grown rapidly into a dynamic, member-led caucus.
In March 2023, they petitioned for Bargaining Reform and Transparency in response to the lockout. Their impactful work earned them an invitation to the "Rules to Win By - Power & Participation in Union Negotiations" sessions at the UC Berkeley Labor Center, led by renowned bargaining strategist Jane F. McAlevey.
In Spring 2023, RCAP was honoured to be invited by Labor Notes to participate in multiple panels at the Labor Notes Conference in Chicago. The conference is North America’s largest labour gathering and one of the most significant events for grassroots union activists and reformers. Highlights included a mainstage plenary, where then-RCAP Chair, now ACTRA Toronto President Kate Ziegler, shared the stage with UAW National President Shawn Fain.
RCAP is grateful for mentorship from esteemed Union leaders, including Gerry Daley, former WGA Organizer and Labour Lawyer, and the invaluable support of Labor Notes. Based in Toronto, RCAP engages members across North America.
